The Tenderloin Children's Playground
and Recreation Center

The Tenderloin Children's Playground and Recreation Center opened its heart and doors to the community in 1995. The Tenderloin has a large population of children, approximately 4,000, from mostly Southeast Asian families as well as Hispanic, Russian and African-American. The center is open seven days a week, providing a diverse recreation program that includes pre-school activiteis, a latch-key program, arts and crafts, dance, sewing, cooking, gardening, woodworking and year round sports - softball, basketball, flag-football and even soccer. A successful teen club offers programming every Friday night and as many as 150 children can be found using the facility at any one time.
