PhilHarmonia Benefit Throughout the years I have always been awe-struck by the magic of the Grateful Dead community, but I was so busy playing and traveling I mostly took it for granted as part of the scene. Having a lot more time these days for giving extended thought to this, I realized that it is the combined energy of the community that created this magic.
As is well known, the audience frequently played the band - when the collective consciousness reached a certain level, anything could and did happen. This made me ask myself : what if I could help focus some of this synergy into good works? The answer is the Unbroken Chain Foundation.
Our first benefit is a little different than most because I wanted to expand this concept even more: what if the audience WAS the band? This benefit, now known as PhilHarmonia, will have the musicians singing for you, but even more exciting, it will have all of us singing together! Not only will this event raise funds for some extraordinary groups, but the joy of a thousand people singing together will radiate out into the cosmos.
